A fun fact from Mark Davis, president of the Unicode Consortium: “I had a side bet that the face with rolling eyes would be the most popular new one, so it was fun to see the stats from EmojiXpress”!
Our EmojiXpress team thought it was going to be the Unicorn face based on our user requests ? What’s also surprising is that some of the highly requested food items such as Hotdog ?, Taco ?, and Burrito ? didn’t make the top 10.

Our sample size was 30 million Emojis typed with our EmojiXpress keyboard during the two-week period of January 15-30, 2016. Out of these 30 million Emojis, only 5% (1.5 million) were new Emojis. The top 10 new Emojis made up 65% of all new Emojis typed.
